We are almost to the close of the year. As your State Commander, it has been a very educational and exciting year. I am so thankful and honored that you elected me for this position. I have really enjoyed every minute as your Commander. Due to health issues I am unable to serve another year.
I have visited many Auxiliary Units and attended their meetings. I have toured all the Wisconsin VA Medical Centers and veteran homes and took part in meetings there. I was honored to be part of the volunteers serving at their picnics and at the Thanksgiving dinner at Zablocki VAMC.
It was a privilege to represent Wisconsin at the National and State Convention and Conferences. There were some duties that I could take care of from my home, as well as duties as Senior Vice Commander of my Unit. I was happiest when my days were busy serving as Commander. At this time I would like to thank our line officers, especially Adjutant Patty Davis, for always being there to offer her help and advice, and Ann Glende for being so patient in answering my questions.
I would also like to thank all the committee chairpersons for accepting their positions when asked, and for all their help at Convention and Conference.
Thank you, also, to Sharon Banning for accompanying me to all our Unit visits, and to K.C. Johnson, DAV State Commander Mike Hert, DAVA State Senior Vice Commander Julie Hert, Rose Williams and Linda Gresbach for driving me or just being there for me when needed.
All these people love this organization and are not afraid to step up and become a great team player; sharing and working together is what makes the DAV and DAVA GREAT!
My journey has been a great blessing to me. I’ve met lots of new people, learned so much more about how we need to work together to keep and make this great organization even better. It was also a great opportunity to visit many new places.
THANK YOU, AGAIN, FOR GIVING ME THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE AS YOUR COMMANDER. YOU HAVE BLESSED MY HEART. REMEMBER TO: LOBBY – VOTE – HELP so WE can give our VETERANS and their FAMILIES a better and fuller life.
Be happy. Stay Safe and Healthy. I look forward to seeing you at the next meeting.
Elizabeth Honaker – DAV Auxiliary State Commander, 2019-2020
