FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
National Commander Dennis Nixon will be featured speaker at DAV State Convention
Members of DAV (Disabled American Veterans) from throughout the State of Wisconsin will hold their annual department convention in Green Bay from June 6 to June 8 at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center.
More than 150 DAV members – including many ill and injured veterans of World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf War, Iraq, and Afghanistan – are expected to attend.
According to Michael Hert, DAV Department of Wisconsin Commander, “Convention business sessions will include adoption of resolutions to be submitted to DAV’s National Convention, which will be held in Orlando Florida, August 3-6, 2019.”
Several of these resolutions are expected to concentrate on improvements in the rights and benefits earned by more than 3 million veterans disabled in wartime service to their country. DAV leaders are deeply concerned because many federal proposals could possibly harm our injured heroes.
They are particularly concerned with several issues – fully funding the Department of Veterans Affairs and properly implementing the VA MISSION Act. Another concern is our veterans who were exposed to toxic burn pits while serving.
The convention’s highlights will be a banquet held Saturday, June 8 at 6:15 pm, at which the featured speaker will be Dennis Nixon, DAV National Commander.
Election of new DAV state-level officers for the coming year will be held on Saturday.
