Volunteers Needed!

Greetings from WI Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Transportation Program.

Our program is in desperate need of volunteer drivers across the state. The Covid pandemic had a hard impact on our program and our volunteer drivers. As we return to normal, our need for Volunteer Drivers is increasing rapidly.

So, we urge you to please reach out to members, family, and friends to see if they would like to Volunteer to help our nation’s veterans get to their medical appointments. This would be a great way to thank a family member who served as well as our nation’s veterans.

Volunteers have to meet qualifications through VA to become a driver. Any Transportation Coordinator can direct you to more information. The two primary qualifications are that you have to pass a background check and physical.

We have two types of volunteer drivers:

  1. Local – vans run from Veteran’s residences to either VA Clinics or Hospitals within the local VA facility area.
  • Then we have longer runs that usually go to and from VA Clinics, off site parking to VA Hospitals. Pickups can be at designated stops along the route, at other facilities, or in some cases, at the Veteran’s home.

We also have vans stationed around the state at  VA Hospitals and VA Clinics.

DAV Transportation serves roughly 42 counties around the state. To see if we are in your area, please go to our website at dav-wi.org for further information.

Our goal is to have drivers Monday – Friday at each location – this can be accomplished with your help. Some areas need 3-4 drivers daily to help our veterans receive the care they need and deserve.
