SERVICE IS OUR FOCUS

DAV is dedicated to a single purpose: empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity.

Each year DAV helps more than 200,000 veterans and their families obtain needed benefits through 100 offices throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Our Wisconsin office, located in Milwaukee, helps roughly 12,000 veterans annually. Additionally, we reach out to veterans in rural areas with a Mobile Service Office.

Annually, we provide over 700,000 free rides to veterans seeking transportation to their scheduled VA medical appointments nationwide. In Wisconsin DAV gives more than 40,000 free rides to veterans each year.

Every February, we go to Washington to meet with our Congressional elected officials to see that the promises made to men and women who served are fulfilled. Each June in Madison, we present our Legislative Program to the Governor’s Office and key state legislators and agencies.

With more than 1 million members nationwide and approximately 15,000 members in Wisconsin, we have been serving our nation’s injured and ill veterans for more than 99 years. DAV is a nonprofit organization, founded in 1920 and chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1932. DAV in Wisconsin was incorporated in 1938.

Wisconsin DAV was founded in 1938.
We have a long, distinguished history of helping veterans by:

Providing Benefit Assistance.
Offering free rides to their medical treatments.
Advocating for their rights in Washington and Madison.

Wisconsin DAV holds an annual State Convention each June where our members gather in the spirit of service and fellowship.

Each October, we hold a Fall Conference with informational seminars and meetings.

DAV Veteran Services

DAV is dedicated to a single purpose: empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity.

We do this through Service Programs and Advocacy.

BENEFIT ASSISTANCE
DAV provides free professional services to veterans and their families in obtaining VA and other government benefits earned through their service to our country.

Last year, we helped over 330,000 veterans and their families obtain benefits, nationwide.

In Wisconsin, we helped over 3,500 obtain benefits.

TRANSPORTATION
DAV offers free rides to veterans who have difficulty getting to and from VA medical appointments. Last year nationwide, over 700,000 rides were given to veterans.

VOLUNTEER
DAV offers a wide range of opportunities for individuals who want to make good on the commitment we’ve given our nation’s heroes. Volunteer at VA hospitals or State Veterans Homes or become a DAV Van driver.

ADVOCACY

We educate the public about the great sacrifices and needs of veterans and their families.

DAV fights for the rights of wounded, injured and ill veterans and their families from all eras on Capitol Hill in Washington DC and at the Capitol in Madison.

JOBS
DAV’s free assistance from our highly trained National Service Officers includes linking service-injured or ill veterans to job training and job assistance programs to help ensure they and their families are able to live with respect and dignity. For more specifics click here.
